This past Sunday, we talked about igniting hunger for God through fasting. I’ve had some people ask me about resources to learn more. Here are a few great books.

Next week Grace Church will be hosting its fifth anual GraceMart. This is a two day outreach where everyone in the Triangle area who has a need for furniture, appliances, clothing, home goods, toys, food, etc. are welcome to come and take from the items donated by Grace Church members and thier neighbors. Since the event began we have served nearly 5,000 people in our area.
It is a privilege to join the dozens of volunteers in helping with this ministry at Grace. I am always amazed at how much time, energy and resources our people are willing to give to serve others. It humbles me and inspires me to be more like Jesus, who Himself died for the spiritually poor and destitute. So to all the volunteers from Grace who will come out next week to help, THANK YOU.
If you have a need and would like to “shop” at GraceMart (where everything is free), then come visit us next Wednesday and Thursday, July 29 & 30, from 6-9pm. Registration begins at 4pm.
If you would like to donate items or volunteer some time to help GraceMart, please feel free to join us between the hours of 9am-8pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and 9am-10pm on Wednesday and Thursday.

So the last few weeks I’ve been apart of two major events at Grace Church. The first wat the 4th of July AOK outreach at Kennan Stadium in Chapel Hill, where we handed out 7,000 glow sticks and raised awareness for charity: water. The second was the yearly Grace Churches International youth camp, War Cry. Both were a lot of fun to be apart of and I can only hope that both will lead to changed lives in the future.

The next major event for me, and Grace Church, is GraceMart09, where we will open our worship center up for two evenings for hundreds of people who have need to come and get donated furniture, appliances, clothing, toys, homegoods, and food. I actually write these blogs on Thursday and schedule them to post on Saturday. Today (Thursday) is Michelle’s and my 15th anniversary. It is such a wonderful day. Yesterday was too, and tomorrow will be as well, but these mile marker days are really wonderful.
Some of these 15 years have been super spectacularly fabulous, and others have been, kick us in the face, difficult. The easy ones were so fun to go through together, and the hard ones were fun to go through too because we made it together. It is not good that DeWayne should be alone. God said that, and He sure knew what he was talking about.
Marriage is being belittled by some and redefined, at least on paper, by others, but the real thing transends all that. I love my wife from the center of my being, and thank God for her all day every day. Not only because she’s beautiful, though she is, not only because she loves me back, though she does, and not only for all the other amazing things about her, though they are countless, but because God gave her to me, to love,honor, cherish and protect as His stand-in until death do we part.
Its a big job really, but I love it and it doesn’t seem like work, though sometimes those tough day make it feel like it a little. Its glorious, and laden with joy. We’ve completed 15 years and have loads of wonder filled years to go. I’m thankful for them all.
